Fix a broken link warning

What the link check means and what to do about each warning.

QR BASE checks each active code’s destination every day and when its destination changes. Website checks look at the server’s response; PDF checks confirm that the uploaded file exists. A warning never stops the code: it only tells you that people may land on an error page.

What each status means

Status What it means What to do
Working The website returned a successful response, or the PDF file exists. Nothing.
Not checked yet The code is new or was just changed. Wait a minute, or click Check now.
Broken link The page returned an error, or the PDF is missing. Fix it (see below).
Couldn't verify The automated check could not confirm that the destination works. Scan the code yourself.
  1. Open the code and visit the destination in your browser.
  2. If the page has moved, change the destination.
  3. Click Check now to confirm the fix.

About "Couldn't verify"

Some websites block automated visitors, require a login or limit traffic. Connection problems, timeouts and too many redirects can also cause this status. Scan the code with your phone and check that the intended audience can open the destination. A successful check confirms a server response, but does not guarantee that every part of the page displays correctly.

Problems

  • The status hasn't changed after Check now. Checks may take a minute or longer when the service is busy. Reload the page later.
  • "The destination was just checked." Each code can be checked once a minute. Try again shortly.
  • A paused code shows no status. Paused codes aren't checked. They're checked again as soon as you activate them.
